Our Virtual Study Hall is designed to help students stay on pace with their assigned schoolwork.
At the beginning of each session, our credentialed teacher will complete an individual progress check with each student. During this progress check, our teacher will discuss the student's pacing plan and help them set goals for finishing their work on time.
For each session, the majority of the time will be dedicated to working on assigned schoolwork. During Virtual Study Hall, students will screen share so that our credentialed teacher can monitor their progress and make sure students stay on task. Students will also be encouraged to take notes.
At the end of each session, students will be asked to email their supervising teacher an update on what they worked on that day in Virtual Study Hall. This will help create a fluid line of communication between the student and his/her/their supervising teacher.
Please note that our Virtual Study Hall will not create any assignments or assign any work. The focus is on helping students complete work that is assigned by their school.
Who Can PARTICIPATE IN virtual study hall?
Students in 4th through 12th grade may participate in this program.
How many students are in one Virtual study hall session?
At this time, Virtual Study Hall groups will be capped at six students.
What are the scheduling options?
All Virtual Study Hall sessions are run as two-hour time blocks.
Please note: Students must select a time slot, which they will commit to for a minimum of one month. You can also sign up for multiple weekly sessions per month. Consistent attendance is key to a student's success in this program. Currently, our options are:
Mondays: 8:30-10:30; 11:00-1:00; 1:30-3:30
Wednesdays: 8:30-10:30; 11:00-1:00; 1:30-3:30
Fridays: 8:30-10:30; 11:00-1:00
WHAT IS THE COST?
Each 2 hour session costs $25. Billing will take place on a monthly basis.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
To sign up, please contact Taylor Made Academics via email (email@example.com) or phone (916-642-9404). If no spots are available at your preferred time, your student can be placed on a waitlist or select an alternate time slot. Parents/Guardians must also fill out a release form before the student can attend. This will be emailed directly to the parent/guardian.
WHAT IF I MISS A SESSION?
Missed sessions will not be refunded. It is vital that students attend consistently and show up on-time to their weekly sessions in order to experience the optimal benefits of this program. The consistency is what will help students thrive and learn to keep pace with their assignments. If a student misses a session, they will not be able to attend a different time block to replace it. This is because we have a cap for our groups, so there is no room for an additional student to be added to a session if they miss their assigned time.
WHAT SUPPLIES ARE REQUIRED?
Students need to have access to a computer, the internet, and their curriculum.
Although not required, we also strongly encourage students to have a notebook for each subject so that they can take notes on their lessons. Other note-taking supplies—such as sticky notes, highlighters, and different colored pens—can also be helpful. Again, these note-taking supplies are not required but are encouraged.
IS VIRTUAL STUDY HALL DIFFERENT THAN TUTORING?
Yes, Virtual Study Hall is different than tutoring. Students can certainly ask questions while working on their assignments during Virtual Study Hall, and our credentialed teacher will help. However, it is vital to keep in mind that this program is specifically designed for the purpose of helping students stay on pace with their assigned work. Students who are struggling academically may benefit from also enrolling in a tutoring program to help bridge any academic gaps they are experiencing.
DOES TAYLOR MADE ACADEMICS OFFER VIRTUAL TUTORING?
At this time, Taylor Made Academics does not offer personal tutoring.
